Style Watch: Fashion-Forward Decorating Trends

Shag. Sleek Scandinavian. Stainless steel. Design trends come and go, often at the speed of a fleeting springtime snowfall. And, sometimes for good reason -- we remember all too well the advent of avocado, don’t we?
At PoshLiving, we make it our business to identify upcoming design trends as they start to break. Here are a few that we've picked up on for the new year.
Go Eco-fabulous.
In the past, “green” and “Earth-friendly” design focused on function, and paid little attention to the design desires of consumers. Now, Al Gore’s inconvenient truth is in the forefront of our minds -- and we aren’t alone. Leo has been snapped by the paps in his Prius on more than one occasion, and fab Mama Soleil Moon Frye has entered the earth-loving fray with her new eco-friendly store for kids, The Little Seed. With consumers expecting more than just a pretty face and plain white cotton, everyone is getting in on the trend. Artisans are meeting the challenge by finding ways to meld form and function, creating fun, modern and sometimes very striking design pieces. From picture frames made of reclaimed wood to sumptuous bedding made of organic materials, eco-friendly has become eco-fabulous!
