Tips to Better Lips
Preparation
In order to ensure that your lips are always as healthy as possible and constantly kiss-ready, you’ll want to keep your lips hydrated, exfoliated, conditioned and moisturized.
Hydrate: Lots of water and a healthy diet are integral to the condition of your lips.
GEOFF’S TIP:
Drink as much water as possible every day! Those fluids, combined with the water found in fresh fruits and vegetables, will help keep your lips plump and full.
Exfoliate: Use a product to slough off dead skin and reveal beautiful, soft lips. You can use a sugar scrub, a lip exfoliator or lightly rub your lips with a dry or slightly moistened baby toothbrush. No matter the method, exfoliating is essential in the wintertime!
STEPHANIE’S TIP:
I highly recommend Lip Silk from Laura Mercier. It contains great ingredients such as Vitamin E which is soothing and Alpha Hydroxy (citric, glycolic, lactic, malic) and Beta Hydroxy (salicylic) acids which help to slough off the rough, dehydrated skin. Later lipstick applications go on much smoother after using a product such as this!
Condition: A lip conditioner can be worn alone for sheer color or, if you blot off with a tissue, you can apply color on top and the conditioner will help the color to last longer. It also helps prevent lip gloss from caking on the lip.
ERIKA’S TIP:
MAC and Kiehl’s have the best lip conditioner…MAC’s is lightweight, and has jojoba oil, shea butter extract and sweet almond oil with a SPF 15. Remember that your sensitive lips can be damaged by the sun’s harmful rays, so SPF is crucial!
Moisturize: Use a product like a night moisturizer, something heavier than what you would wear to condition your lips during the day. During the day, though, a conditioner can act not only as a moisturizer, but can also function as a base to your lipstick.
