Scouting Chicago’s city streets on a recent extended stay, a panoply of purveyors seemed to coo the names of my mama pals. So for them -- and those who identify with them (and me) -- here are my retail recommendations…

Nothing like lost luggage to force a mini-maternity shopping spree! Preggers had me back in my favorite fashion designers’ daywear before hotel check-in time! Of course once I’d indulged a bit for me, it only felt right to baby The Bump a bit. The selections at both Lollie and Beautiful Beginnings suit my -- and in the absence of argumentative kicks, I assume my baby’s -- style sensibilities to a tee.

Skye always knows Aunt Iz will bring her a treat from travels, and the True Religion Lonestar Julie jeans I picked up at Madison and Friends will undoubtedly please her and her mama. As soon as I laid eyes upon this Ramones Dress at Psychobaby, how could I resist?

Naturally I cannot neglect my other mamas’ munchkins, and I’d never want to --especially after popping into Red 21, a boys-only boutique. Eliza will be thrilled that I picked up a few pieces and Ben will be wearing some Wes & Willy just like his style icon, Maddox Jolie-Pitt!
