Watching the Live Earth concerts got me Mother Earth motivated! So much can be – and needs to be – done to protect our planet, but where to begin? The founder of threeBEAN, Robyn Lomauro Grenning, shares her ideas on getting started!
Five Everyday Tips for Living Environmentally Friendly
By Robyn Lomauro Grenning
- Conserve Water
idea: Turn off the water in between brushing your teeth and rinsing; water your lawn at night so the water doesn’t evaporate during daylight hours; and fill your dishwasher to capacity before turning it on.
- Recycling
idea: Create a competition within your family – see who can be the most diligent about recycling all paper, glass or aluminum!
- Clean the Air
idea: Find the perfect spot in your yard to plant a tree with the family. Not only will it help to beautify your yard, but it will also remove 2000 lbs. of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere per year, leaving the air cleaner for us to breathe.
- Conserve Fossil Fuels
idea: Get to know your neighbors and colleagues better than you ever have before – who doesn’t love carpool karaoke!? Start a carpool club in your neighborhood and save over 700 lbs. of carbon dioxide and hundreds of dollars per year.
- Buy Organic
idea: Make an effort to buy locally and organically grown products. If you are feeling super ambitious, plant your own organic garden in your yard! Organic products are free of additives and help support local farming.
