Location, Location, Location
Proximity to the slopes has never been more important than when you go skiing with kids. Most children can’t handle a long drive to and from the slopes, and for younger children, it can be very beneficial to be able to chill out at your condo or suite midday before returning for a few more runs. Find a place to stay that minimizes your daily travel time to and from the slopes so that you can maximize your skiing time.

Plan Ahead & Make Plenty of Reservations
Skiing is a sport where the work-to-fun ratio can really turn against you if you don’t polish up your ski bunny act. Outfit yourself and your children with ski clothes and accessories before you travel so that you don’t spend your vacation running around buying mittens and hats for ten times more money than you’d spend at home. If you want your children to participate in ski school, day care or some other program at the resort, reserve a slot ahead of time. This also applies to restaurants and activity centers during peak season.

And On the Third Day They Rested
Unlike adult skiers, kids often need to rest up between ski days so it’s important to find other activities for them to do on off-ski days. Plan to take a break from skiing after a day or two. Before you arrive, look into alternate activity options such as ice skating, rock climbing, the movie theatre, swimming, etc.
