Barron, The Donald’s son with wife Melania, isn’t the only new babe on the block. And at one year old, he’s already an uncle! Donald Trump, Jr. and his stunning wife Vanessa recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl to the family. Vanessa’s insights on pregnancy, parenting and her new passion – baby Kai Madison – make her a mama with mojo we adore. I sat down with Vanessa for some baby talk and got the scoop on her pregnancy picks, post-partum fitness plan and posh nursery design.

Did you know if you were carrying baby blue or pastel pink? Or were you more of a “keep-it-a-mystery mint green” mama-to-be? Tell us about your decision to know or not to know.
It was a surprise. Don and I are very traditional and we decided to make it a surprise.

Since it was a surprise, how did you decide how to decorate the nursery? Tell us about the interior design that greeted your infant upon her arrival home.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved teddy bears, so I incorporated that into the theme of the nursery.  I wanted the nursery to be bright yet clean, so the walls are a matte white with a soft white carpet. The furniture I selected has a classic antique look. After Kai was born, I added the appropriate pink colors and décor with wall art, lamps and linens.

Have you and new daddy Don Jr. discussed your parenting styles? Do you plan to emulate your parents’ traditions or blaze a parenting trail all your own?
Don and I have very old-school traditions which stem from our upbringing, but we are learning new things everyday. I want to be very close to my child, and both Don and I agree that fostering education and responsibility at a young age is extremely important.
