Allie: Speaking of Poet, we love her lyrical name…is the pressure on? Do you feel the bar has really been raised in the baby name department? What -- if any -- are some of the suggestions you’ve received?
Soleil: Yes! You know I’m open to all suggestions. We’ve been getting lots of good ones so far. We’re really, really trying, but not set on a name yet. The ongoing joke is that we have to come up with something as original; Poet really turned out to be such a ‘poet’. It’s going to be a tough act to follow, so we’re open to all input!
Allie: Speaking of open to input…we’re really open to making more healthful choices for our children and the planet. Could you tell us a bit about your relationship with and involvement in the Environmental Media Association?
Soleil: I got involved with them 6 or so years ago. I just wanted to be able to help with the environment and the planet. Growing up I spent so much of my time looking around and realizing how delicate our planet is. It was something I was so passionate about while traveling, camping at the beach and at summer camp in the mountains. I saw how quickly everything changes and I wanted to help. Getting involved really opened my eyes. Then having Poet opened my eyes even more. She made me realize we have to do our part not just for the present, but the next generation. And definitely every little bit helps. I literally sit there with Poet watching “The Planet” DVDs from the Discovery Channel. It’s the most amazing show; we love watching it. I spend a lot of time trying to teach Poet about the environment, and am inspired to do the same for the next generation of activists and environmentalists.
Allie: Clearly your new eco-friendly/organically conscious children’s boutique, The Little Seed, is the result of your caring for modern families who seek to care tangibly for our world. Can you tell us a bit about how the response to the shop has been thus far? Any surprises?
