Brooke: No, definitely not. I don’t think that is an issue at all. In the instance of RockStar, though, for a female to come in and fill some big existing shoes with an all-boy band, that perhaps was a little more challenging. We had some unbelievable unsigned talent.

One of the things I loved about the show was that it was very real. The contestants were passionate. We weren’t humiliating anyone. In today’s era of reality TV, unfortunately there’s a lot of that -- poking fun at everyone. RockStar was really a genuine opportunity for unsigned talent. I was really proud to be a part of that show.

Almost every host in town auditioned for the position, and for me, there were so many things about it that were appealing. Aside from primetime exposure on CBS, it was also a dream gig for me as a mom. We taped a live show two days a week. I was done at 11:00am, and was picking my kids up from school -- I really didn’t miss a beat as a mother.

As a businesswoman having a career on television, it’s always been challenging for me to keep my priorities straight and to take advantage of the right opportunities, and to pass those that compromise my family.  [RockStar] was a dream job for me in allowing me to be devoted to my family; it was such a great schedule. I could have had the same exposure, but been working 14 hours on a set everyday. It was a true blessing.

Isabelle: Absolutely! As horrific as 6:00 in the morning sounds, what a fantastic schedule for a mom!

Brooke: It was. It was a dream come true. As a mom, it is about balance. I’ve always been committed to my career, I love to work; but I love being a mom, and I’m really involved with my children. So it’s about making the right choices for me, and making choices that are right not just for me, but for my family. I’ve been really blessed that I’ve been able to pull it off.
