The Mamas: Who are some of your favorite people in the public eye who are inspiring others to go gorgeously green and why?

Sophie: Laurie David and Sheryl Crow for their “Stop Global Warming” bus tour. Laura Dern for her public involvement with the excellent organization, Healthy Child, Healthy Planet. Oprah Winfrey for consistently bringing the message of “green” living to the masses. Julia Roberts for being a Gorgeously Green mom.

The Mamas: Speaking of the divine Ms. Julia, we saw that she composed the foreword to your text! Can you tell us a bit about how that came to be?

Sophie: My husband and her husband [Danny Moder] have known each other for years. When I wrote Gorgeously Green, I always thought of Julia as being the perfect woman to write the foreword -- so I sent her the book in its early stages. She loved it and has been wonderfully supportive ever since. Julia is an amazing mom, and has a deeply intuitive sense about taking care of this earth.

The Mamas: We love your website, and you are so charismatic! Beyond your book about to hit shelves, what’s next on your planet-caring plate?

Sophie: I am spreading the word about “The Gorgeously Green Girl’s Club.” Inspired by the work I did with Julia and a group of her friends, I am creating “How-To” videos and cheat sheets, which will show women how to host their own event. I am traveling around the country doing “Lunch & Learn” events to educate woman and I am working on my new book -- there’s never a dull moment!
