Manners, teamwork, sensitivity, friendship…each encounter with Maggie and her friends is steeped in good examples; and as Mamas, we thank you for that! How do you all come up with your storylines?
Michael: My mother just sort of sits there and comes up with this stuff. She's very clever, and she taught me a lot about writing over the past few years. We get along I guess because we have a common creative goal to make a show that everyone will love, and we hope that our love of family comes through in the show. Maggie and Hamilton and the Beast are a family of friends.
Could you take a peek at Maggie's map and tell us where she and the Beast are heading next? What's on her itinerary?
Michael: A Maggie movie is next... we're aiming high for a feature. Lots of parents do not know what to take their 4 year old to – Harry Potter is way over their heads – so a Maggie feature with lots of songs is the next thing on our agenda. We also work on a puppet show called "The Cheap Show" which can be seen online. I think it has the same sensibility as Maggie.
Creators, writers, producers and artists – the mother and son team of Betty and Michael Paraskevas is the prolific braintrust behind Maggie and the Ferocious Beast. Their latest DVD, “Trick or Treat ,” is now available in stores and online. |
