Admit it. Girls’ fashions have gotten so stylish you mourn the fact that you can’t squeeze into a 3T. Kids’ clothes have come a long way since I donned Sassons. The 21st century has ushered in colors, patterns, and textures so enticing it’s a challenge not to purchase the entire spectrum offered.

Naturally you want to shop tot-sized togs for their comfort and fit; but shouldn’t they be fun, too?

At what other time of life can you “theme” dress unapologetically? Collegiate toga parties are undoubtedly born from those on the cusp of adulthood seeking a flamboyant last hurrah. To everything there is a season; so for now, let your wee one delight in nautical wear, skate-kid style, and rhinestone-studded holiday garb. Tassels and ruffles and bows -- oh my. Boy-child, girl-child or both, consider purchasing attire that alludes to their professed role-models. Rock ‘n’ Roll tees. Safari hats. Cowboy boots. For pre-speaking infants, feel free to doll them up with reference to a few of your favorite things. They’ll be choosing their own soon enough.

One of the true joys of parenting is sharing with your offspring aspects of life that bring you satisfaction. For me, my attire compliments and embellishes my personality; I’d be remiss to not introduce my affinity for fashion to my babies. After all, I've got a belly-friendly Badgley Mischka standing by just in case an invite arrives for Vanity Fair's post-Oscar party.

When it comes to clothing the kiddos, I endorse, and paraphrase, Madonna’s vocalized advice. Dress ‘em up in your love, from their head down to their toes.
