Viva La Valentine
Savoring the Saint’s Day with Isabelle
Countless the thoughts that ran through my mind,
To honor this season toward affection inclined.
Revelation! Eureka! I happened upon it --
What better occasion to Dish in a sonnet?
Perhaps the singular holiday meriting verse,
Instilling anxiety in the romance averse.
If gone are your days of love unrequited,
Indulge your beloved, no reason to hide it.
Yes, sweets are a treat and flowers have powers,
But Lover deserves more -- think ivory towers.
Verbalize your intent to uniquely delight;
Implore him to match you in rejecting the trite.
Heady the thoughts of the consummate token,
Both received and given -- with regards not unspoken.
So avoid the criticism, the derision, the mocks…
Simply think outside the heart-shaped box.
A Votre Valentine --
