Spring Forward in Style
Eliza expounds on post-equinox fashion
Naturally, I adore my chunky knits, down coats, fur-lined boots and other clothes and accessories so cuddly and warm that winter’s bite is hardly frosty. Yet the girth of the season’s garments puts undue strain upon my closets and shelves; and Ben’s bureaus are no different.
At last, spring has sprung. Trees are budding. Little shoots are shooting up. Little tykes are, too. And it’s time for spring shopping!
Ben’s spring clothes packed away last year now illustrate, heart-wrenchingly, the speed of toddler growth. My packed away togs are a testimony to quickly changing trends and how equally fast my tastes evolve.
Spring is such a sneaky, straddle season with one foot in hot, one foot in cold – virtually unpredictable on a daily basis. Do I need a jacket? Should I put layers on the boy? Is it too chilly for open-toe shoes? Is it too early for Ben’s sandals? Dare I go sleeveless?
One answer is obvious. Clearly, we have some shopping to do — especially now that all that drawer space has freed up. (How’s that for rationale?)
Nature is adorned with a new coat of color. I should slip on some of the same.
