Making Maternity Manageable
Diminishing the discomfort with Isabelle
On long plane trips, intuitive flight attendants supply pillows, blankets and cocktails. Before a cavity is filled, thoughtful dentists recline the patient’s seat and administer anesthesia. Prior to beginning a rigorous workout, sensible trainers lead their students through a series of preliminary stretches.
During the 40 weeks (more or less) of baby gestation, a mama-to-be experiences comparable windows of predictable discomfort, occasional moments of pronounced pain and extended periods of bodily exertion and duress. We four Mamas have now done pregnancy in multiple seasons, with multiple symptoms. (And in Allie’s case, with multiples!)
Necessity being the mother of invention, there’s nothing quite like a mama-to-be’s need for relief to send her scurrying for a remedy to ease what ails her.
Thankfully, gals talk. By the time I announced my pregnancy news, I had three trustworthy resources more than ready to reveal their sacred secrets for alleviating expectancy’s unpleasantries. In some cases, the discoveries have been so dreamy, I imagine nine months’ worth is merely the beginning. (Plus I’m not about to say goodbye to the upsized diamond ring I landed when my pregnancy-swollen finger rejected my engagement ring.)
A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. A generous dollop of pampering makes pregnancy go better, too.
