Green Day, Every Day
Protecting our progeny – and the planet – with Isabelle
Call me a convert. But don’t credit An Inconvenient Truth, Live Earth or even the barrage of daily news coverage alerting us to the crisis of global warming. To whom do I owe my reformation? Behold, the Bump.
Since Baby’s conception – or at least our awareness of it – I’ve been rethinking my consumption. Scrutinizing my surroundings. Envisioning the world in which my baby will dwell…and contemplating its future.
Of course there’s nothing quite like the doctor-dispensed “You’re pregnant!” literature to scare you straight to the organic foods section of the grocery store. For close to nine months now, my blossoming body has received offerings of heretofore unheard of wholesomeness and the Bump has been the beneficiary of my female fortitude.
While I cannot insulate my little prince or princess much beyond 40 weeks, I can create an inner-sanctum nursery atmosphere that respects my baby’s purity – and our planet’s.
How anxiously I await our baby’s precious first step. Here’s hoping his/her carbon footprint remains diminutive for a lifetime.
