Art collectors. Children’s book authors. Celebrated party hosts. Political advocates, and with increasing frequency, actual holders of public office (Arnold, anyone?). By virtue -- or infamy -- of their role as celebrities, a viable springboard’s been provided for stars to segue into diversified, delicious roles. They’ve long been in the public eye; and presently, their artistic efforts may be found bodily upon persons within the gen pop.

Ever-glam David Bowie -- spouse to supermodel, Iman, nonetheless -- advised: Turn to the left. Turn to the right. Fashion.

Entertainment is inextricably intertwined with style. Designers have become stars; stars have become designers.

Of course there are the department-store divas of design: Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Tiegs, Mary Kate and Ashley just to name a few. But now, a select -- and growing -- subgroup of savvy celebs has sequel-ed into couture creators even the most upscale of stores seek to stock.

Whether we are willing to admit it openly or not, we all have a celebrity darling -- maybe even two. When it comes to mine, I walk her line.
