Theory of Resolution
by Eliza
Everybody loves a resolution.
Whether it's a makeover for your mind, a baptism for your bod or a rebirth for your repertoire, the appeal of turning over a new leaf is undeniable. But how to prevent that wellspring of willpower from wilting away?
Make it fun and fab, not dull and drab! Ditch the dreaded D-word and treat yourself to a new wardrobe of workout wear that inspires you to perspire instead. Take a vow of gorgeousness and never let your roots come in. Turn off the tube and turn in earlier with a treasured tome.
For my part, I plan to bring the spirit of the spa into my home by embracing minimalism this year. As a fashion and beauty editor, one professional perk is the flow of freebies, from the latest YSL lipstick to the hottest designer denim. Sure I spread the joy around, but most of that sweet swag ends up chez moi. Translation? Cluttered closets, doomsday drawers and shameful shelves. Add some serious shopping and, well, you get the idea....
But instead of curbing my urge to splurge, I'll purge. Once the furious rush of festivities abates, my closets shall be the first to fall. The golden rule post-yule? If I haven't worn it in two years, it's out. Then, room by room, I'll edit it all – paper, plastic, pictures, perfume, playthings, everything.
In 2008, I resolve to absolve myself from clutter chaos.
