In genuine efforts to avoid egregious gloating, I've not revealed this juicy morsel until now: my mother-in-law (in addition to being the antithesis to the stereotype) held a former gig in the tasting room of a high-profile, Wine Spectator-lauded, Washington State winery. As if her plural parenting encouragement and support weren't enough, she's our family's secret sommelier. One of her recent recommendations, the selections from Cycles Gladiator. Reasonably priced (don't tell the vintners, but I'd pay far more!) and artfully labeled a la art nouveau, their syrah has been bestowed to every home we've visited thus far this holiday season.
Right now, I'm knee-deep in making and signing our holiday greetings. Despite the wintry temps, my home is warm, my glass is full -- and my heart equally so.
