It's the End of the Globe(s) as We Know It...

Sadly, as a by-product of the ongoing writers' strike, the Golden Globes 2008 ceremony has been reconfigured to a "news conference format " -- as opposed to the red carpet revelry that typically ushers us into each new year's awards season.

While I respect the actors -- nominees included -- who are honoring the stalemated scribes by refusing to cross the picket line, mightn't all involved consider declaring -- if not a truce for the occasion -- a day of unity...one that could be demonstrated by wearing designer duds on the march? Granted, Christian Louboutins aren't made for mileage, but strategic shoe choices could be made.

If Mr. Cavalli wants some exposure for this little number since no starlet will be wearing it to the Globes, I'd be happy to wear it on the march!

Looks like it would be comfortable (and clavicle-highlighting!) and would work with a pair of fetching flats.
As Joan and Melissa Rivers might ask, "Who are you wearing?"

The strike can't last forever...and other awards await...
Here's to negotiations in the New Year---

No red carpet? Horrors!

I feel grumpy just thinking about it. Maybe they can slap a red runner down on the way in anyway...

SO not fair to deprive me of my first fashion fix of the awards season :(

Oh no....sit down, Eliza...

I just received our copy of Entertainment Weekly and one of the cover stories is this:

If the Oscars are canceled too, we may have to come up with a glitz and glamour evening of our own in the coming months. (and invite Keira Knightley who surely will be a nominee!)

In the meantime, am keeping lots of positive negotiation thoughts for the powers that be.

I tried.

God bless NBC for trying to keep hope alive and airing the "results" of the Globes, but no. I'm changing over to "Rock of Love Season II"....

Mournfully---
