Behold the reflective righteousness of this marquetry-magnificent offering by Kentshire Galleries, Ltd.
Normally, my tastes trend toward the cutting edge, the eclectic, the culturally significant. Modern this mirror's not (it dates to Charles II's reign, late 1600's), but what a historically handsome piece to companion my cozy cottage contemporary! Plus the fact that it's made largely of olivewood? Peace personified.
Poor Narcissus, a pond couldn't have offered a fraction of the self-indulgent satisfaction facilitated by this find.
(Would it be too snarky to place a potted narcissus before this piece? Oh, the temptation!)
Sassier yet, perch it above the assymetrical chair Izzy picked this week.
Antique, schmantique. Everything old can be made -- or viewed as -- new again.
Here's looking at you---
