Al Gore. Former Vice-President. Nobel Prize-winning earth advocate. Academy Award winner.
His passion for protecting our planet has inspired many, many citizens to rethink their world-harming ways.
So is he my inconvenient truth-revealing muse when it comes to conscientiously caring for the environment? No offense to Tipper's man, but the answer is a resounding, "No."
No, my inspiration is only "sort of a man." Shortish. Oldish. Brownish. Mossy. Possessed of a voice described as "sharpish and bossy."
In honor of Theodor Seuss Geisel's 104th birthday (remembered with fondess and affection last week), I've spent the days revisiting and re-reading afresh to my babies the books of the beloved Dr. Seuss. Each tale conveys such powerful ideas in charming, fun-to-read-aloud cadence. Since I first heard the tale of the Truffula Trees' demise (not to mention the forced-by-deforestation relocation of the brown bar-ba-loots, swomee swans and humming fish), the stand-up Lorax has been one of my heroes.
What an appropriate reminder -- and a recycling, really -- the acquisition of this original would be.

If I haven't the access to that last Truffula seed, maybe this sketch will be a potent motivator to remember "UNLESS."
Speak for the trees-
Allie
