Clearly, we Mamas need to plan a full-foursome foray to the Windy City; and when we do, I'm booking us a table at Chicago's venerable vegetarian locale, Green Zebra.
Owner/Chef Shawn McClain -- recipient of the 2006 James Beard Best Chef Midwest award, no less -- creates seasonal menus maximizing the freshness of the current harvest. Roasted squash salads. Curried cauliflower soup. Rushing water rainbow trout with black barley, braised cabbage and an apple and fennel puree. Envisioning the palette on my plate and the plate on my palate...I'm sold!
So when are we making our way Midwest, Mamas?
