Emotional Rescue

Feelings...whoa, whoa, whoa, feelings.
All our recent mama talk on baby showers brings back such happy memories of my own...and the deluge of delightful items bestowed upon my duo. Each gift seemed to reflect its giver so marvelously. Even today, perusing the babes' nursery, I can identify the source of each special token.

Knowing it takes time for wee ones to develop the language (and some studies indicate twins take longer...) to voice their desires/moods/emotions, one of my favorite shower gifts was a sweet set of surrogates.
[We actually have the red and blue twins from Uncommon Goods.]

Each spokes-toy comes with a set of "emotions" (much like the "Mr. Men Show" and/or the "Little Miss" books) that conveniently --  and ironically -- can be stored in the incapable of speech creatures' mouths. So even if Ringo is too young to verbalize his happiness, and Mai finds herself grateful and unable to convey her feelings conversationally, these toys can do the "talking" for them. (I'd be dishonest if I didn't 'fess up that their daddy and I have already usurped them to send surreptitious sentiments to each other!)

I'm glad they're mine, I'm glad they're mine all mine....
They've already come to our emotional rescue!

What a fabulous concept! Now ...  if only they made a Kimochi that could silently convey a temper tantrum even AFTER they've learned to vocalize voraciously! ;)

Wow, I didn't know that twins were potentially prone to speech delays -- perhaps it's because (as is so apparent with M and R) that they're so attuned to their own language, who needs  words anyone else can understand?
