Bye, Bye, Baby Boomette?

Guilty pleasure admonition: Sigh, it’s true … I absolutely adore the admiration of babies the world over, of celebrity status or not.

Now, I’m sure that if I were the unwitting recipient of the degree of attention these babies and their marvelous mamas have garnered I would feel far different, but I secretly do hope this celebrimommy movement persists! A case of vicariousness? Perhaps! ;)

However, is it just me, Sisters, or has anyone else notices a sharp decline in celebribaby gossip? Have we all grown tired of tot twitter, have tabloids been effectively tsk-tsked for their exploitations of the baby bumps gracing the belly of every, single celebrity, or have we crossed on over to the other side of this beautiful baby boomete?

Say it ain’t so! Bring on the babies, I say!

Some Stayin' Power for Your Man!

Oh, such a sucker I am, for the material marvelousness with clever monikers. Wurkin Stiffs Power Stays fit such the brill bill, but execute a clever follow-through, too!

A laundering lesson: Know those plastic things I always -- and I mean, always -- forget to remove come Daddy-O's laundry time (passive aggression, per chance? I'm J/K ... I love laundry)? Yes, those. Those are called "stays."

Magnets mean hot dads the world over can forgo their chronic cases of collar-flappin' flimsies, and the pretty shininess says to whomever's turn it is to throw in a load to remove before washing! Here's hoping the the gleaming brilliance of this gift I've just procured will also remind a certain someone that he's not the only one that enjoys shiny things, either ...

Ooooh la la, (Pomme) Bebe!

When Skye was still my wee little bundle, I pondered with great purpose the means by which I would introduce solids to her tiny, pure palette. And just like the very thought of commercially prepared baby formula made me want to cry, imagining my Skye's first meals to consist of preservative-laden jars of mystery mush elicited much of the same emotions.

And so when that day inevitably arrived (much sooner than I had imagined, of course), I decided that, if Skye's darling daddy and I can put as much thought into what we're putting into our big ol' mouths, I was prepared to do much, much more for my little one. So, I made Skye's baby food from scratch. All of it. Every meal. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and the multitude of snacks that transpire betwixt.

I joyfully pureed, machinated and otherwise liquified the most divine dishes for my dumpling, but it was a Lot. Of. Work.

Only long after Skye had graduated to big girl food did I, of course, happen across Pomme Bebe!

Good thing, too, for should #2 ever choose to rear his or her adorable little head, I do not imagine myself to possess the wherewithal to puree even one more pea.

Pomme Bebe is amazing -- their recipes rival that which I've experienced at some of the best restaurants in the world, and it's all so very fresh, cooked at low temperatures to retain as many vitamins and trace minerals as possible ... I am just blown away and hope, hope, hope that one of my girlfriends (ALLIE!) give Pomme Bebe a try and report a review back to me!

Commercially prepared baby food can sit on the warehouse and store shelves for up to two years before even making it to Baby's high chair. Ew! Convinced yet? :)

I swear to you, I'm not forcing a sweet, square peg like Skye into some kind of round hole. No. She is truly a budding artist -- and after bearing witness to the sparkle that befell her eyes it when she saw this at JP.. Boing's, it made me realize that, no matter how much one of my darling daughter's pieces may clash with the overarching ambience I'm trying to convey within our abode, Skye's artistic stylings are of utmost importance and should therefore take front and center when it comes to wall space ... especially with this fabulous way to frame it! Yay!

The State of the Union, According to Skye

Now, no matter our political bent, I think we can all agree on one thing: our next president holds within his hands great power ... and responsibility! As it is when any new president is elected -- but especially now -- our children's very future is at stake.

Doesn't it therefore follow that our darlings should politically partake?

Yes, but without the mental faculties to process the very, very, very complex world of politics, how, really, can they? Lots of politically savvy mamas and pappies choose to vociferate their own political platforms by plastering these all over their progeny, in the form of tiny tees, bumper stickers on Bugaboos and the like.

Now, love that we're all so politically impassioned this election year, but why not foster within our budding politicians the ability to choose for themselves, based on their own beliefs that they develop as they grow into the young adults we'll all be so proud of them for becoming?

Skye's dad and I have decided on this take, and as such, Skye's election-year wardrobe runs the gamut of the political spectrum.

Besides, there are so very many adorable accessories and petite pieces out there that lie on both sides of the fence, Skye and I simply had to jump on the bandwagons ... all of them! Check out some of Skye's cheekiest new pieces!

Hee hee, you should see the looks on people's faces at Starbucks when Skye and I parade in one day bedecked in Democratic threads and the next, we're conservative! By "we" of course, I do not mean to say that I have not chosen a candidate for whom to vote here in a matter of days ... it's just that we Mamas of Posh have simply chosen to retain our political preferences as private. Indeed, we decided long ago it was for the better.

MCM in the MMIX?

So I just watched with a covetous cuor as my gorgeously classy grandma nonchalantly passed down to her teenage great-granddaughter one of her many prized purses (yes, your Syd comes from a long line of bag ladies), an amazing MCM I've been ogling for, oh, about 17 years. This Mode Creation Munich piece for which I got the good ol' passover got me thinking ... and shopping for my own MCM, natch.

Purse pundits say MCM is slated to make a big comeback in the coming year, though I've borne witness to such banter for quite some time.

While MCM remains ever popular on the eastern edges of the Western World, their pieces are a bit harder to come by 'round these parts, but ... behold: at my beloved Bloomingdales, a perfect plethora of MCM pieces!

Was just at a fabulous fair for kiddos this weekend, and meet the fine people of Keedo, hands down one of the coolest clothing stores for kids ... ever!

Love, love, love their pieces, all of which are manufactured in South Africa for our little world citizens everywhere. While their clothes are perhaps the cutest I've ever seen, it's their mission and their promise to the world that truly makes them stand head and shoulders above most of the rest.

What's for Breast Fest?

It's Sunday morning -- don't know about your fab fam, but 'round this residence, there isn't a lazier time of the week! Having just returned from our trip to Milan for Fashion Week, Skye and I are especially pooped. Movie day!!

It may not be what one might expect to take in on a lazy Sunday morning, but we've been absolutely enthralled watching -- and voting on --the top entries for the first-ever Breast Fest, a film festival dedicated to breast cancer awareness, taking place this November in Toronto.

Breast Fest is an initiative of Rethink Breast Cancer, one of Canada's many devoted organizations whose sights are set on finding a cure for breast cancer.

The films? Absolutely breathtaking, tear-jerking ... but mostly, inspiring.

Cure in the Canyons

Ohhhhh, I hope it's not too late, at least for those of you in proximity to Westlake Village, in California -- I had learned about Cure in the Canyons when composing this week's column, but with my spontaneous adventure to Milan with Skye, I just remembered ...

This sunday, the California Health & Longevity Institute at Four Seasons Hotel Westlake Village will host the second annual Cure in the Canyons, an event that exudes more extraordinary energy than perhaps any other taking place in honor of breast cancer awareness this month.

There will be massages, beauty and other spa treatments, representatives from some of the hottest names in health, wellness and beauty, and of course, food, glorious, food -- not to mention, the Four Seasons at Westlake Village is by and far one of the most breathtaking places to stay on the entire West Coast!

Glamming it up for a good cause? Double-duty yay!

I so wish I could be there ... please, if you live near Westlake Village, do you soul and your sisters right and head to Cure in the Canyons, this Sunday, October 5! A full report will also be requisite, of course!

Helllllllo, my Likeminded Fashion-Hungry Mamas!

I come to you from Milan, where I'm happily hanging over for a bit following one of the most amazing weeks of my life here, at Milan's Fashion Week, the consummate close to the world's annual foray through fashion. What a breathtaking journey it has been -- I've seen, been seen and soaked in the scene right on down the very last drop -- indeed, sometimes, one drop too many ...

If preceding fashion weeks haven't effectively enough done the deed to let us know what is to be hot and not this spring, Milan has shouted it from the rooftops of every haute fashion house for all the world to hear (though I'm so glad I was here to witness the fabulosity for myself!)!

I thought it my duty to report back to my sisters of swank on some of the hottest that haute has to offer us this spring!

Microminis, metallics and megahuge neckwear were all seen, but my fave two trends had to be:

I See London ...

Before a celeb-packed house which included the likes of Miss Pam Anderson and Kate Moss, the very hot Brit designer Vivienne Westwood sent sans-top top models down the catwalk, causing the kind of splenderific stir that can truly only transpire at a fashion week held ... in a non-stateside locale.

Never mind the nudity, though, because Westwood's wearables were way well-received, even garnering a few standing ovations from the front row of the show, where all of the top-billed celebs could be seen, natch.

Many credit Miss Vivienne with much of the new wave/rocker vibe the Brits have so blatantly owned since we can all recall.

Now, because Posh happens to be a family show with roots on this side of the Atlantic, I'll leave you with a few fabulous shots from Westwood's more fully-clothed galavant last night ...
