    Second Trimester Transition Clothes

I'm at the point where a lot of my clothes are tight, but the maternity clothes are too big.

Aside from a belly band, are there any other options?  I work in a very professional environment.

    Any help is appreciated.

     Dear YelloTulip,

I know exactly what you mean, I'm also in that very same stage and struggle to find clothing for work that is comfortable and professional.  I've found that dresses and skirts, that can be pulled up a little higher than at your waist but are still long enough to wear to work, have been my best option, because they provide a little bit more room for that growing belly.

A lot of stores are coming out with their Spring lines, and I've seen a lot more wrap shirts, which also provide that extra bit of room.

    Good luck!

    Hi Yellow Tulip and Jillian---
Wrap skirts and of course the iconic Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dresses I'd think would be ideal "growing with you" options.
Don't know if you saw the cute Momzee top that Isabelle was wearing alongside her Dish here, but perhaps that might also give some "adjustable" coverage during the tricky transitions!

    Congrats to you both!

    Re: Second Trimester Transition Clothes

I think Jillian is spot-on about wearing your skirts a little higher, or a little lower, depending on the skirt, and the belly bands can do wonders, but I have 3 pieces of advice: stretchy fabrics, open jackets and a great seamstress!

I layered the stretchy tops under the jackets, so I was comfortable, but still looked professional. I purchased 2 new jackets larger than what I usually wear, and then after the pregnancy, had them altered back down to fit. Now they fit so perfectly, they look custom-made, and I didn't waste money investing in clothes I couldn't keep wearing. And I also made use of all of those pashminas. Wearing a pretty colored wrap over an otherwise boring (or snug!) top made me feel pretty while still maintaining my all-important comfort level.

One last thought... I don't think they're very trendy anymore, but when I was pregnant, those poncho tops were all the rage. They were awesome! Big Smile

    Good Luck and Happy Pregnancy!

Just a couple more ideas to add...
Embrace the empire waist trend -- it's your friend -- and remember that gorgeous jewelry and fabulous hair can distract almost anyone's eye upwards!
    Stay stylish!
