My brother-in-law watched the Original Star Wars trilogy with his nine year old daughter. He loved when her mouth fell open when she learned who is Luke's dad. Well the next morning he goes and wakes her up and there is a look of pure horror when she sees her dad but then she looks and sees she has a hand ,sighs with relief,  smiles at her dad and says good morning.

My dad would, more often than not, work on Saturdays. One of my fond memories is going to a local take out called the Burger bar and taking the food back to Dad's store for a Saturday picnic.

I think my daughter has the best Daddy ever! He doesnt just buy her things, he spends quality time with her.  They have their favorite shows.  They love to build things together.  On more than one occassion, they are gone for hours on Sunday and come home with bags full of litlle girl clothes and toys!!

One of my favorites happened most recently, when my husband entered them in a recycled boat competition.  They had to build a boat out of recyclable material and float it down the river.  They were so cute together.

I didn't get to spend much time with my dad but I'm thankful for him passing down his great work ethic to me.

The best memory I have of my dad is the days he would take me fishing with him. I was such a tomboy growing up. He let me do things like climb trees, ride with him to work on the oil lease he took care of. I loved being with him. The first time I caught a fish, he laughed and laughed at me because I was so scared.

Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest

Although my husband fathered four children and he was the best father to my children that I could possible ask for I wanted to tell you about many of the fathers I observed while working as a Labor & Delivery nurse for twenty years. I had the distinct priviledge of being present at one of the most memorable experiences in a couples life. The fathers whom I remember the best were the men who were tall, strong and well built. They usually had jobs as firemen, policemen, the skilled trades or many of the fields that require physical labor. You would have thought they would have been the toughest. They were not. These were usually the men who cried when they saw their babies being born and treated their wives with the most love and respect and tenderness. I particularly remember a man from Iran during the late 80's. I don't think they were usually present when their wives delivered in their country. He asked us over and over again "how do you women do this!!?  He had such appreciation for his wife and what she was going through. Occissionally we would see a women who was battered by her spouse. Sometimes it would be a man half her weight and we thought "She could take him!" To all the fathers and particularly the ones who were there with their wives every step of the way I applaud you. I saw so many teen moms with no support of a husband or boyfriend and often thought they were "looking for love in all the wrong places" I knew if a woman had a supportive husband during labor there was a good chance he wuld be there for his children too. Thanks for honoring these men. They deserve it.

I couldn't agree more january1981.  :)  There were so many great stories that it must have been hard to choose.  I had missed some of the winners posts when I originally read through this thread.  I am glad I got the chance to read them now though.  They were very good.

Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest

A HUGE Thank you to PoshCravings and the editorial staff for choosing my memory/story.  Thank you january1981 for the kind words!  It has really served as a humbling lesson for all of my family.    I loved reading all of the stories as well, and I do not think I have ever laughed and cried so much in an alternate manner!!  My sinuses are definitely confused at this point!!

Jason did not know I had written about this, b/c I honestly did not even think I would have a chance or qualify!  So when we came home from vacation and I viewed the website and the winners, I started screaming!  I told him, of course he was initially embarrased, but then I read how I portrayed the moment for me, and by the end of reading the entry, Jason, myself, and my confused daughter were all crying.  He is most excited about the golf book and the camcorder!  My daughter thinks she is getting a new stroller for her "babies"!!  Is that not adorable!?

Again, I am elated and feel all of the entries were just awesome to read and enjoy!  Thanks to all of the vendors who donated such wonderful prizes!  I feel priviliged to be a part of such a friendly, loving, yet full of strangers online community!

     GOD Bless!!

Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest

We just wanted to thank everyone again for such a fun and rewarding contest. The entries were all so endearing, in so many different ways, that it was difficult to choose the winners. But talk about winners! We have never seen such a grateful and happy group of winners as these fine women!

We'd like to share some of their emails with all of you, so you can see what an awesome community we have here!

Thanks again to everyone who entered. We can't wait for the next contest!

"Oh my GOD right now I am about ready to jump out of my skin! Thank you so so so so so so much, you have no idea. Never knew that my childhood antics would come in handy - mom'll be so proud! Thanks again!"

"Yay!  I'm so excited!    My hubby will be thrilled with his prizes!   Thanks so much for hosting this wonderful contest (and for picking me as a winner!)  There were so many great entries that I am thrilled to have been chosen as one of them."

"I wanted to say thank you so very much, and my husband is also in complete shock right now!! I also wanted to let you know some of our plans with the prizes.  We will be donating the carrier and stroller to the Crisis Center in our home town--if I am allowed to do so, with your blessing.  I was thinking, I have everything I need if I ever have another child--boy or girl--and would love to share some of these awesome gifts with those less fortunate.  I am simply ecstatic right now, with tears in my eyes!!!"

"The box arrived about half and hour ago and all I can say is thank you with all of my heart. My husband's birthday is Wednesday so I let him open the box and he was just like a little boy at Christmas time! The first thing he did was to take off his old watch, which is one he has had forever and and the band is so frayed, and put on his new one. He looked as if he would cry and our son just kept looking at him while he explained to him about how he would someday be able to tell time. He then looked at each tie carefully and told me that it will be perfect for when he is job hunting as he has decided to finally call it quits with the military after two overseas assignments (I am so grateful for this as now I can go to sleep at night without worrying about a knock at the door in the middle of the night). He is so proud of those ties. The first thing I did was to put baby wipes in the messenger bag. It is absolutely adorable!!! He put the books on his nightstand and is going to start reading one tonight. How can I ever thank you for making this such a wonderful day and week and for making my family so very, very happy!
I will never ever forget your kindness and will be forever grateful.
God Bless and thank you so very, very much!"

Thanks again to everyone who entered. We can't wait for the next contest!
