Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest
Ladies, I have just GOT to give props to my daughter's Daddy! He is such an awesome husband and daddy! For Ansley's 1st birthday party, we planned a small cook-out with our family and a few close friends who have kids close in age. It was a great time with good food and good fun for the adults and kids. We did the cake deal which was hysterical and plopped Ansley right in the bath afterwards. Next it was time to open a few gifts and as that was finishing up, Jay (hubby & daddy) asked everyone to step into the living room for a moment. Friends and family were looking at me and I had no idea what was going on. He proceeds to turn on the TV and DVD player and then there's our Ansley on the TV. He made a DVD of pictures and video of her first year and set it to that sweet version of "Over the Rainbow" by the Hawaiian guy, Iz something. It was so wonderful! Everyone was crying and saying how great it was. He then hands a copy of the DVD to my parents and they start blubbering again. Then...as if that wasn't enough...he walks to the kitchen and comes back with this box (I still don't know where he was hiding it to this day!) and it's full of wine. He'd gone to a local winery where you can design your own label and put it on a house wine. He took the same logo that he'd used for Ansley's DVD and put it on the wine bottle with her full name and birthdate. Every family got a bottle of "Ansley's Wine" as they left. It was the most wonderful surprise for me, my family, our friends and such a great story to tell Ansley one day. She's 16 months old now and a true Daddy's girl. I travel a lot with my job and as much as it saddens me to be away from Jay and Ansley, I go away knowing that a beautiful bond is growing stronger and stronger every day between them. There's my Props to Ansley's Pop!

Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest
I couldn't choose just one memory of my husband (Jeff) with our two daughters. Lucia (age 4) and Sophie (age 20 months) always cherish their time with their Daddy so much that every moment that I get to watch them and their special bond that they have is an amazing experience to me! He works so hard (sometimes for more than 10 hours a day!) to provide for our family so that I am able to stay home with our children. He gives up so much of himself for us. How could I choose just one moment with all that he has done? So, I emailed my husband. I asked him what he would write about, what his favorite moment was. This was his reply: Three heads converged on a pillow top bed, staring at a ceiling, creating shapes that just might exist and cherishing fantastic adventures that are easily confused with reality. Watching and participating with them while they paint on an imaginary canvas is my most outstanding experience to date.
Jeff is an amazing husband, father, and man! It really is the little things that make all the difference. Those moments define what this crazy thing called life really is. We love and cherish him and that is why Jeff deserves some huge Props for Pops!

Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest
I am 6 months pregnant with our first child. On the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend, our baby girl did something for the first time -- she kicked and moved so big that I could see and feel her from the outside of my rapidly expanding bump. I woke my husband to tell him -- he was so thrilled to be able to feel her movements that he skipped out on his plans & we stayed in bed ALL Saturday and watched & felt my baby belly move. He is absolutely engaged in the experience of this pregnancy and amazed to have this opportunity to give unconditional love to our baby girl. He talks to her every day, telling her he cannot wait to meet her. He has been exceedingly generous during this entire pregnancy -- taking care of me and pushing me to take good, good care of myself for me & baby. He is excited any time I have a craving -- he wants to "have" to run to the store at midnight to buy 1 obscure thing to satisfy my craving. His love for me has deepened so significantly since I've been carrying our child; he is completely focused on keeping our marriage strong and not allowing me to disappear behind the baby. Oh, I love him!

My Dad has passed away, but I will always appreciate that he passed his love of fishing down to me! There is nothing that melts away stress better than throwing my line into a pond. Thanks Dad!

Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest
My husband the storyteller..... We take turns putting the kids in bed. On my nights, I read with them, passing the book around so we can each read a couple of pages aloud. Interest level depends, of course, on the book. On my husband's nights....he makes up stories on the spot, several of which have become serials that have lasted for years. There's Ubulu the Ant (and his colony, where all the other ants are named Princess #1, Princess #2, etc.), or The Fantastical Adventures of the Just Us League (featuring the kids' favorite stuffed animals), and many more. Sunday mornings, they all leap into our bed clamouring for stories. Each of the kids have created illustrated books with their own versions of his stories. What a guy!

I never knew my own father but my male hero in my life was my granddaddy. He told me tales of way back when(he was born in 1899) and imparted bits of wisdom that I still use to this day.

Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest
I have the greatest little daughter she is so beautiful. I can't believe I helped create someone so wonderful. We have our special moments, the snuggles, her sleeping on my chest, or holding her when she cries. I think the most absolutely gratifying time is seeing her beautiful smille, it makes my day after a long day at work. She is most definitely daddy's little girl!

Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest
My husband has just been so wonderful I am eight months pregnant and my husband is on cloud nine. He is overseas and is probabally more involved in this pregnancy than the dads who are home with their wives everyday. He really likes being involved every day he calls and talks to my belly telling his little girl how much he loves her and misses her, he sings happy birthday to her every time a weeks goes by and loves to sing twinkle twinkle little star to her. He was home for two weeks when we found out we were having a little girl, we both cried in the doctors office, he called everyone he knew to tell them and we hit the baby store to buy her furniture. Even now that he is back overseas he gets online all the time checking out stuff for her room and even though we have the baby furniture in her room he will not let me decorate it until he comes home because he does not want to miss out on decorating her room he wants us to do it together, he won't even let me put the mattress in the crib yet. He is always asking me to send pictures so he can see my belly growing and loves when I send the ultra sound pictures. Whenever I have a doctors appointment he always calls to see how it went, and will even stay up till three in the morning(he is seven hours ahead of us) to make sure everything is going good. When I had the 4d ultra sound and he saw his little girls face he cried and has showed the picture to all the guys at work. It really kills him to be away right now, but I know that if he is this involved and he is overseas that I know he is going to be a great father when he comes home. He will be home for the birth of his daughter, he made sure of that and he is just so excited and he already is talking about all the stuff he wants to do with her. I am so thankful that he is in my life and he is the father of my baby girl!!!

Re: PROPS TO POPS Father's Day Contest
My husband and I don't have kids yet, so I am going to give Props to my own dad. It's funny how we tend to forget how we were taught important lessons in life, and sometimes even funnier how the lessons were originally taught.
My parents divorced when I was about 6 years old. I saw my dad on weekends, but of course I shared that time with my older sister. One year, when I was about 11 years old, my dad took me our for an entire day of just him and me. He took me to a local amusement park. In the parking lot, I looked up at the looming giant rollercoaster and gently reminded my daddy that I was scared of such monsters. He looked up at it and responded, "We're going on that." Now you have to understand, my dad was a very busy business attorney. He grew up in the country but always seemed to be wearing a suit, watching golf, and/or acting very "business-like". The idea of him taking me on a rollercoaster was just freakish. But... into the park and into line we went. My knees were quaking the whole time we wound through the turnstiles. Bravely, I boarded the ride and sat next to my usually buttoned-down daddy. He was smiling so broadly! The ride roared around twists and turns and there was my daddy yelling, smiling, and his hair blowing in the wind. My fear was conquered by his joy.
This will always be a treasured memory of mine, as that day taught me that everyone can conquer their fears and that joy can be found in the most unlikely places and experiences.
